日本画家・大和絵師 伊東正次の襖絵・屏風絵

A monkey on the rock

My creative activity is based on the repetition of basic process. I first decide the subject and make the concept by researching and sketching.

It may take only a few days to set the concept but sometimes takes years.

I start drawing once the concept is set. I keep drawing until I am too exhausted, take a rest, wake up to paint, on and on. At the point I finish most of the painting, I take a little distance
from that work to calmly observe the piece and then proceed to finish it off.

But that is not always the completion. If the piece does not come to life, I continue retouching until I am content. There is no definition for drawing procedure.
