日本画家・大和絵師 伊東正次の襖絵・屏風絵

There is an old wild Wisteria tree at Ooguno Tokyo. Wisteria trees are usually raised with shelves so that the flowers can be easily viewed. But this wild wisteria tree has grown holding on to oak and cedar trees which looks agonizing being squeezed by the wisteria-vine.

While sketching, I noticed that dozens of wild wisteria-vines wrapping around various trees and were growing up to the top. Their leaves and flowers are taking away sunlight from the trees and I too felt some fear of being wrapped by this species.

This work is aimed to show both the beautiful flower and greediness of parasitizing of wisteria.
